Mangaluru: Prashant Murder Case, Situation Tense in Moodbidri, Additional Police Force Deployed

Update: As soon as the news of Prashant’s murder spread, Hindu outfits called for a bundh in Moodbidri. They also pelted stones and destroyed some shops. To control the situation police resorted to lathi charge.

It is also learnt that a videographer from a TV channel who had gone to Moodbidri to record the incident was attacked by a group and his video camera was destroyed. In this regard the President of the District working journalist Union, Jagannath Shetty Bala demanded the police commissioner to provide protection for journalists.

Activists also damaged shops and a hotel for not pulling its shutters. The situation is tense in Moodbidri. Additional police force has been deployed.

Hindu organizations have warned that they will call for a Bundh on October 11, if the police failed to arrest the killers, by October 10.

Mangaluru: Hindu Activist Prashant Hacked to Death at Moodbidri

Mangaluru: A 26-year-old Bajrang Dal activist was hacked to death near Samaja Mandir Gate, Moodbidri here, on October 9.

The deceased has been identified as Prashant (26), a resident of Hosabettu. He was a flower merchant by profession.

According to sources, on October 7 at around 7 am, when Prashant was taking the flowers to his shop, a group of six men with weapons came in three bikes and attacked him.

Prashant was rushed to the hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.

A case has been registered in the Moodbidri Police Station and investigation is on.
