Mangaluru: A shocking incident of abduction has been reported in the city on Thursday night.

As Sharun Kurien, a bank official, was standing near Radha Medicals in Karangalpady, a car stopped and the driver asked him to get in. As Kurien recalled that he had met the person a few times earlier, he got into the car in good faith.

There was another person in the car. He was taken around the city and was offered a soft drink which is suspected to have a sedative effect. He got into a semi-conscious state.

At Chilimbi, he was made to withdraw Rs 19,000 by making use of his South Indian Bank’s ATM card. Then he was made to alight near a lodging house in Chilimbi.

Kurien’s friend Haridev, who happened to stay in the lodge, came to his assistance and got him admitted to a hospital.

No clues are available about the identity of the culprits nor about their real motive other than looting. A case has been filed at the Kadri police station.
