Mangaluru: Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar held a press meet at his office here on January 7.
Addressing the mediapersons, Chandra Sekhar said, “Mangaluru CCB police were successful in nabbing six associates of the underworld elements Vicky Shetty alias Balakrishna Shetty who had left the country and is absconding now.”
The arrested have been identified as Gaurish alias Sujith alias Gauri( 26) of Bajal, Jayesh alias Sachhu (23) of Kavoor, Naveen Shetty alias Pili Naveen (34) of Akash Bhavana, Praveen Kumar alias KP Praveen (26) of Bantwal and Harshith (22) from Kulshekar, Guruprasad (30) of Bajal.
The arrested gangsters were planning a dacoity at Marakada village, Gundurao Lane when they were nabbed by the CCB Police who recovered 4 swords and 2 cars from the accused.
In the early hours of Thursday, credible information was received that the associates of underworld element Vicki Shetty alias Balakrishna Shetty were planning to commit some offence. Acting on this tipoff the Police Inspector CCB along with the staff raided the place and were successful in nabbing the following gangsters. The suspects were waiting in one white colour Ritz car and one maruthi swift car infront of the orphanage at Markada Village, Gundurao Lane, Mangaluru.
Vicky Shetty is accused in Vikram Boloor murder case in 2015, registered in Ullal Police Station and Prashanth alias Pachu murder case in 2013, registered at Mangaluru South Police Station.
The police commissioner appreciated the swift action by the CCB police in arresting the accused and announced reward of Rs 15,000 each and commendation certificate for their efforts.

On January 7, morning, credible information was received that the associates of Underworld element Vicky Shetty were carrying pistol illegally and were wondering around Keerthi Mahal Lodge, bNear KSRTC bus stand, in order to commit some crime. Acting on this tipoff the Mangaluru CCB Police nabbed two persons and seized 2 mobile phones, 1 pistol and 5 live rounds.
The arrested have been identified as Sachin Gowda(31), resident of Nerlathadka House, Puttur Taluk, currently residing at Green Front Apartment, 1‘t Floor, Bejai New Road, Sankaiguddek Bejai and Pawan Shetty(21) from Mugrodi, Shaktinagara.
The arrested persons are the associates of Vikki shetty @ Balakrishna Shetty. Sachin Gowda was involved in the murder of Rajesh in the year 2004 in Urwa Police Station Limits. He is also an accused in the attempt to dacoity case registered in the year 2014 in Mangalore Rural Police Station. The other accused Pawan Shetty was involved in the murder of Durgaprasad Shetty in the year 2014 in Mangaluru South Police Station Limits.
