Mangaluru: Senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary held a press meet at the District Congress Office here, on March 19.

Addressing the mediapersons, Poojary said that the parents of IAS officer D K Ravi, who died in mysterious circumstances, were crying on their son’s grave and pleading the government to handover the case to the CBI which was heart-wrenching.

Poojary further said that being in poverty and supporting their son to become an IAS officer, is not an easy task. “The parents, with great difficulty, spent all their earnings for their son to become an IAS officer. The parents had dreams that their son would be their support in their old age, but their dreams were shattered when he died. When D K Ravi was the DC in Kolar, he worked with honesty and won the hearts of the people in Kolar. When he was transferred, everyone in Kolar protested.”

He said that when the parents and the entire people of Kolar and other districts are demanding for a CBI probe, why is the Chief Minister quiet? “Why is he hesitating to handover the case to the CBI? Why does the CM show that the Congress party has no heart? If the case will not be handed over to CBI according to the demand of the people and the parents, the Congress will be wiped out in Karnataka like in Delhi. Why are honest people being killed or not allowed to lead a safe life in the country?” he questioned.

Blaming the Police Commissioner M N Reddi, Poojary said that before the post mortem report, the Police Commissioner said that it is a case of suicide. “Why was he in a hurry to give such a statement and create confusion? He could have waited for the reports to come but the Police Commissioner was in a hurry to announce that it is a suicide case. In this situation, the Chief Minister should hand over the case to the CBI because people do not trust the CID probe.”

Poojary also urged the AICC President Sonia Gandhi to break her silence and intervene in this case. He also said that the tears of the woman will turn into a curse to Karnataka and in the next election, the Congress will face defeat. He also said that whoever is involved in D K Ravi’s death should be punished severely. “Let the CM hand over the case to the CBI and let the truth come out. If the CM will not respond positively to the people’s demand, it will create doubt and people will not trust the Congress government. Instead of keeping quiet, let the CM hand over the case to the CBI and give justice to the family of IAS officer D K Ravi.”

Senior Congress leaders Vijay Kumar Shetty, Harikrishna Bantwal, P V Mohan, Mayor Jacintha Alfred and others were also present.
