Addressing the protesters Sunil Kumar Bajal said that the Nanthur junction has become a death trap to many families. In the recent past many have lost their loved ones due to avoidable accidents. We have staged protests and also requested the authorities about the need to have a flyover at Nanthur junction, but so far nothing has been done in this regard.

He further said that now the traffic flow at Nanthur junction has increased and thousands of vehicles move on this road. There is a state and National highway which connects to Kerala and other districts. Thousands of students walk on this road and they find it difficult to cross the road. People are also afraid to cross the roads in this area.

Sunil Kumar demanded the authorities to take measures to build a flyover to avoid further accidents and loss of life. CPI(M) members Krishnappa Bajal, Yogish Jappinamogeru, Premanth Jalligudda and others were also present.

  1. Land has been acquired for an underpass at this junction. This will double the problems that are present now. When people just protest without knowing the ground reality such a thing will happen. With the underpass commuters will not be able to cross the road for a 1km stretch. In the rainy season the underpass will be cesspool. People on either side will suffer for no reason. Nothing will be solved and more problems will be created. Why cant they create a bypass for the highway that avoids the city?.
