“With Mangalore now branded as smart city, it is poised for rapid growth and has the basic requisites to become a Global City. The proposed investments when taken into consideration would increase housing demand, improve job opportunities, generate new business opportunities, facilitate urbanization and improve lifestyle. The SMART City project if implemented right would be a boon for all the citizens and make their future bright. The city is blessed with an International Airport, Major Port and a very important railway station (which has already been identified and to be very soon converted into a world class railway station). The Smart City project would bring in an investment of Rs 1,000 Crore from the government to develop infrastructure that will enable different elements of Smart City”.

“The thousand crore which government would invest over a period of 5 years could result in investments of over Rs 20,000 crore into city based projects. Experts claim that barring the Smart City project there is approximately over Rs 30,000 crore projects already sanctioned towards industries in Mangalore, the work is already ongoing in some of the industrial projects. The cumulative investment when taken into consideration would increase housing demand, improve job opportunities, generate new business opportunities, facilitate urbanization and improve lifestyle” added DB Mehta..
