Mangaluru: Fr Muller’s Medical College inaugurates Students Council

Mangaluru: The Fr Muller’s Medical College Students Council was inaugurated on Thursday, 20 October 2015 here at the decennial memorial hall at 3:30 pm.

Just prior to the start of the programme there was a photo session with the present Student Council and the Student Council elect. The programme began with both the Councils’ moving into the Decennial Memorial Hall in a procession along with the dignitaries. As any other occasion in Father Muller’s it began with a prayer song, by the batch of 2014.

Amanda Lobo, General Secretary of the present Student Council, welcomed the gathering following which Jacqueline Fernandes from the Dept of Speech and Hearing introduced the chief guest to the audience.

Bharathi Shevgoor, the chief guest for the day, took part in the solemn ceremony of lighting the lamp along with Fr Patrick Rodrigues- Director of Father Muller Charitable Institution, Fr Richard Coelho, Fr Ajith Menezes, Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, Dr J P Alva, including the President and President elect. The most awaited part of the base proceedings was the declaration of the new office bearers for the year 2015-16, and the Administrator Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa had the privilege of doing so. Dean Dr J P Alva administered the oath to all the office bearers and wished them the very best for the year to come. As a mark of respect for the institution, the new office bearers and the audience sang the institutional anthem.

Bharathi Shevgoor, the chief guest was called up on to release the badges and hand them over to the new office bearers following which she addressed the audience. In her address, she captivated the young audience by her inspiring words and anecdotes on principles of leadership. After this the Student Council and the respective staff coordinators were presented with certificates by the Director, Fr Patrick Rodrigues.

George Joseph, the former Student Council President then addressed the gathering highlighting the various events and achievements of his Council. The President of the Student Council Jason D’Souza then expressed his hopes for the future and the work he envisions to accomplish with the help of his Council and the students. Fr Patrick delivered the presidential address, wherein he encouraged the students to achieve a goal in life that they would be remembered for and urged them to tread the right path in life.

Before the event came to a close, the trailer of the Annual Cultural Fest EQUESTRIAN 2K15 was screened for the audience after which the General Secretary of Student Council, Anagha S Bagi delivered the vote of thanks. The entire audience rose for the National anthem as the memorable evening came to an end.

  1. Students are our future. Most of the students are youth, and youth are also our future. The more responsibilities that we place before the youth is better for us. The youth will get accustomed to the new burdens and will produce good decisions and good results that will benefit all of us. The Medical profession also goes thru the generational challenges. The student council will therefore bring more productive results for Fr. Mullers. You are on the right track.
