Mangaluru: The International Bunts Welfare Trust held a press meet at Hotel Kudla here on February 2.
The chairman of the International Bunts Welfare Trust Sadananda Shetty released the invitation on the occasion.
Speaking to the mediapersons Sadananda Shetty said that the National level Bunts convention will be held from February 6 to 7 at the City Town Hall. The president of the convention Dr D k Chowta will be taken in a procession from Mangalore University premises to the Town Hall at 2:30 pm and people from the Bunts community will take part in the procession wearing the Bunts traditional attire. The stage will be named afterKayyara Kinhnana Rai in the Justice K S Hegde Hall. The entrance of the Town hall will be named after K B Jayapal Shetty and Kalladi Vittal Shetty.
Dharmadhikari Padmavibhushan Dr D Veerendra Heggade will inaugurate the convention. Odiyoor Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Gurudevedatta Samstan, Rajashekarananda Swamji of Vajradehi Math, Esha Vittaldas Swamiji of KemaruSandipani Math, Sri Sri sri Vidyavachaspati Dr Vishwa Santosh Bharati of Barkur BuntsMahasamsthana will be the guests of honour.
A magazine “Sadashaya” will be released by the chancellor of Nitte university Dr NVinay Hegde on the occasion. MLC Pratapchandra Shetty, Dr B R Shetty, A J Shetty,Prakash Shetty, Dr Mohan Alva, Sudheer Shetty, Erya Laxminarayan Alva VijaynathVittal Shetty, Sarvotham Shetty, Prakash Rai, Sundar Shetty and other dignitaries from the Bunts community will be present. On 6 February at 7PM, a cultural programme, “Tulunada Vaibhava” will be presented by the Bunt community and Yakshagana”Mahishasura Mardini” will be presented by Kateel yakshagana team.
From 8:30 PM “Udayaraga”, will be held which will be followed by women’s convention at 9:30 pm. Dr Kripa Amar Alva will be the chief guest and Dr Dharani Devi will preside over the women’s convention. There are a number of programmes lined-up for the Bunts convention such as Telikeda Kusal from Mumbai Bunts at 12 noon, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm “Telike Urkarnaga”, a tulu comedy show by Kapikad team. Alva’s Kalavaibhava team will present a dance programme from 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm.
On February 6, at 5:30 pm, the valedictory of Bunts the convention will be held, Dr B M Hedge will deliver the valedictory speech. Sadananda Shetty will preside over the valedictory function. District minister in-charge who is also the honorary president of the convention and Advisor of the convention MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will deliver speeches on the occasion. Amarnath Shetty will present the resolution.
Health and family welfare minister U T Khader, Minister Abhaychandra Jain, MLAs J RLobo, Shakuntala Shetty, Moideen Bava, MLCs Ivan D’Souza, Capt Ganesh Karnik, Mayor Jacintha Alfred, Kodijal Ibrahim, Sashidhar Hegde, Mahabala Marla, SudheerShetty Kannur will also be present on the occasion.
To attract youngsters towards the convention, “Young Bunts couple” contest will be held from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm followed by Gurukiran nite.
Amarnath Shetty, Bhasker Rai Kukkuvalli, Kadri Navaneet Shetty, Vijaylakshmi Shettyand others were also present.
