Addressing the gathering, Dr Shubha said that the community is culturally very active. “Konkani – we hear this language in Maharastra, Kerala and Karnataka. Karnataka is the most blessed state in the country because it is the home for most linguistic major communities such as Konkani, Tulu, Kannada, Coorgi; it gives a sense of diversity which the country has.” She further said that there are things that we regard as important to preserve for future generations. “Fragile intangible cultural heritage is an important factor in maintaining cultural diversity in the face of growing globalization. Understanding of the intangible cultural heritage of different communities helps with intellectual dialogue and encourages mutual respect for the way of life of others.”

President of Goa Konkani Akademi Pundalik Naik, and Asst Director of Department of Kannada and Culture Chandrahas Rai also spoke on the occasion. President of Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation Basti Vaman Shenoy, HOD Department of English Goa University Dr Kiran Budkuley, Allen C Pereira, Gurudath Bantwalkar, Naresh Kini and others were also present.
