Mangaluru: Legal Action Initiated Against Two Individuals for Alleged Assault, Caste-Based Abuse of Minor

Mangaluru: Authorities have initiated legal proceedings against two individuals following allegations of assault, caste-based abuse, and the unauthorized recording and dissemination of a video depicting the incident involving a minor boy. The case was registered at the Mangaluru South Police Station.

The incident reportedly transpired in proximity to the railway tracks in Babugudda village, situated within the city limits. According to reports, the minor victim was talking with a female acquaintance when an individual identified as Steven Montero allegedly approached them. Monteiro is accused of recording their interaction using his mobile phone and using abusive language directed toward the minor.

Further allegations indicate that Avil, son of Steven Monteiro, physically assaulted the boy and subjected him to verbal abuse, invoking his caste identity. The accused are also alleged to have threatened both minors in a public setting. Subsequently, the video recording of the incident was allegedly circulated across various social media platforms.

In response to a formal complaint, law enforcement officials at the Mangaluru South Police Station registered a case against Steven Monteiro and his son, Avil. An investigation into the matter is currently underway to verify the allegations and gather additional evidence. Law enforcement agencies have not released further details, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
