Mangaluru: Lyned Lasrado awarded Doctorate by CFTRI, Mysuru University

Mangaluru: Lyned Dafny Lasrado, CSIR fellow, was conferred a doctorate by the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru University, for her thesis “Study on the utilization of xylo-oligosaccharides by Lactobacillus sp. with an emphasis on the biochemical characterization of a xylanolytic enzyme”.

On 7th September, 2015 at the Seminar Hall, Department of Biochemistry and Nutrition CFTRI, Lyned presented her research findings to the panel of examiners headed by Dr Muralikrishna, Chief Scientist of CFTRI.

Academically gifted, Lyned Lasrado is a recipient of several scholarships and awards. Besides Junior and Senior Research Fellowships by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), she is the recipient of Young Scientist Award (2010) at the XXVth Annual Carbohydrate Conference, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and Rajiv Gandhi Science Talent Research Scholar Award (2007) from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bengaluru.

She has presented papers at several national and international conferences. She has four research publications with cumulative impact factor of 5.93. She has also authored a book chapter.

Lyned Lasrado is the daughter of Agnes and Felix Lasrado of  Valencia Parish, Mangaluru. She is currently Asst. Professor at the Postgraduate department of Biochemistry, St Aloysius College, Mangaluru.

  2. Congratulations!! I always have a special respect towards people like this lady who go the extra mile to get doctorate. There is something genuinely beautiful and admirable about these individuals.

    On a side note, both CFTRI and AIISH (All India Institute of Speech and Hearing) had a special place in my heart for some very personal reasons. smiles… I have no idea how many times I would have visited these two places riding my little Luna!! LOL Both these institutions are very close to Kukkarahalli kere!! Oh man, oh man – those teenage years, innocent look on life and all the dreams!! There was a pub by the name Pelican in the same area. Not sure if it is still in business!! Well, it was in mid-90s!! Time flies really fast!!
