Mangaluru: NCC Cadets Subject to Discipline, Duty and Order – Fr Gomes

Mangaluru: Milagres P U College celebrated NCC day at the Milagres School Grounds, here on December 19. Milagres National Cadet Corps Associate NCC Officer (ANO), Santosh Gonsalvis, welcomed the gathering.Deputy Director of Public Instruction (Administration Mangaluru) Walter H D’Mello received the guard of honour from the NCC cadets. The NCC cadets was displayed a spectacular march-past. Later, the Group Commander inspected the cadets.

Addressing the cadets Walter said that NCC represents one of the positive forces in shaping the values of the youth in the country. He said that he had witnessed the discipline in the students of this institution and their collective efforts, co-operation and dedication to achieve their goals. He urged the cadets to work hard for the betterment of the country and bring fame to their school. He urged the youth to develop mutual respect, adaptability, self-discipline, cross cultural learning and above all, love for their country. While concluding he said that NCC is capable of training and motivating the youth of the country to become better citizens and leaders in all walks of life.

Administrator Milagres Institutions, Fr Francis Xavier Gomes, in his presidential speech said, “NCC cadets are subject to discipline, duty and order and these inculcate better values in them. In fact, the discipline which an NCC cadet undergoes may play a large role in shaping his values, deciding his career and also his attitude towards life and the true spirit behind it.” He advised them to learn the motto of the NCC, which is collective effort and discipline.

Fr Gomes further said that the discipline which the NCC cadets have shown should be adopted in day-to-day life, not only in the classroom but in the campus and in the society. He also said that the Prime Minister of India has called for a Swachh Bharat and that it is the duty of the NCC cadets to bring awareness among the other students in the institution about cleanliness in and around the college campus and maintain discipline in the classroom as well as in the college campus.

Prizes were distributed to the cadets, who won the various competitions held in the college and the students who have excelled in their studies, by the guests. Vice principal Avith Barboza delivered the vote of thanks.

Headmistress of Milagres School Elvira Lasrado, Principal John Pais and others were also present.
