Mangaluru: One Dead, One Injured in Fire at MRPL Unit
Mangaluru: One person was killed and another sustained burn injuries in a fire that broke out at the Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) facility around 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30.
According to MRPL, the fire was brought under control and completely extinguished by 2:47 p.m.
During subsequent combing and inspection operations at the affected site following the firefighting efforts, the body of one deceased person was found.
Another person who sustained burn injuries in the incident is undergoing treatment at a hospital and is being provided necessary medical care.
The fire reportedly occurred following the rupture of a Cold Separator operating at high pressure in the Coker Hydrotreater Unit (CHTU) at around noon. The battery limits of the affected unit were immediately isolated, and MRPL’s emergency response and firefighting teams were deployed to control the situation.
