Mangaluru Police Arrest Six in Connection with Alleged Moral Policing Incident
Mangaluru: Authorities in Pandeshwar, Mangaluru, have apprehended six individuals on charges related to moral policing. The arrests stem from an incident that allegedly occurred on August 11 near the State Bank service bus stand in the city.
The accused have been identified as Ganesh, Shreyas, Chinchu, Chandan, Nagaraj, and Ramachandra. They are accused of accosting and intimidating a minor college student and a young man.
According to police reports, the incident involved the suspects obstructing a pre-university college student (PUC) and a male acquaintance as they were walking near the bus stand. The female student reported to the police that after college, while conversing with a male relative of her friend and walking from the service bus stand, a group of seven to eight unknown individuals stopped them. These individuals reportedly questioned the nature of her relationship with the young man, the content of their conversation, and allegedly issued threats against her life.
Based on the complaint filed by the student, the Pandeshwar police registered a case and subsequently arrested the six individuals implicated in the alleged incident. The investigation is ongoing.
