Mangaluru Police Arrest Two Individuals for Aadhaar Card and Land Record Forgery
Mangaluru: Urva police have apprehended Abdul Rehman and Nishanth, both residents of Mulki Bappanadu, on allegations of producing counterfeit Aadhaar cards and Pahani documents (Records of Rights), and subsequently defrauding citizens and government entities. The arrests followed an investigation initiated after authorities received credible intelligence regarding the illicit activities.
“On Tuesday, we obtained information concerning an individual involved in the creation of fraudulent Aadhaar cards and Pahani documents in the Daddal Kadde area of the city, with the intention of deceiving various government departments and judicial bodies,” stated the Urva police in a formal statement. “Upon questioning Abdul Rehman at the identified location, he admitted to collaborating with Nishanth, an employee of an online shop located in Kodyalbail, to manipulate Aadhaar card details, including the Aadhaar number, name, telephone number, address, and photograph.”
During the arrest, law enforcement officials discovered multiple fabricated Aadhaar cards stored on two mobile phones belonging to Abdul Rehman. Preliminary investigations suggest that Rehman and Nishanth were systematically defrauding members of the public by supplying counterfeit identification and land ownership documents to various government departments and courts, primarily for bail application purposes.
Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy addressed the press, stating that the investigation is ongoing and that other individuals are believed to be implicated in the forgery network. “We are currently gathering information regarding the involvement of additional parties,” Commissioner Reddy confirmed. He also announced that at least two additional cases related to the fraud are expected to be registered in the coming days as the investigation progresses and further evidence is uncovered. The police are urging anyone who may have been victimized by this scheme to come forward and assist with the investigation.
