Prateeksha, who studied in MGM College, Udupi had just passed the PUC examination with flying colours and also had done well in the CET. Hence they had come to Mangaluru in their Omni car in connection with admission into an Engineering college under the management of Nitte Education Trust.

While on their way back, the Omni car they were travelling in had rammed into a parked truck at Pavanje. As a result both father and daughter had been critically injured and hospitalized in Mangaluru.

After a battle for life, Prateeksha breathed her last in the hospital in the city on Saturday evening. Jagadish continues in a critical condition in the ICU.

As it is a well-known family in Katapadi and surroundings, the residents were in a state of shock after the mishap because of a tender life and a brilliant career having been snuffed off at an early stage.

  1. Driving in DK/Udupi is very dangerous. So many trucks and buses drive so rash all the time. There seems to be no value for life. So sad. Just a question. Where is Rita Madam from Germany?
