Mangaluru: Sea of Devotees Witness Grand Dasara Procession at Kudroli Temple

Mangaluru: A grand Dasara procession was held at the Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple in Mangaluru on Wednesday evening, drawing a sea of devotees and tourists from across Karnataka and other states.

The procession, which passed through the city’s major streets, featured beautifully decorated idols of Lord Ganesha, the Navadurga goddesses and Goddess Sharada, placed on elaborately adorned chariots. Colourful tableaux representing various local organisations and cultural troupes added to the festive atmosphere, attracting large crowds along the route.

The procession commenced with a ceremonial Mangalarti to the Navadurga goddesses, followed by a grand parade carrying the deities through the streets of Mangaluru. Covering several prominent areas of the city, the procession continued throughout the night and was scheduled to return to the temple via the Chitra Talkies route on Thursday morning for the final immersion rituals.

Thousands of devotees lined the streets to witness the annual spectacle, which showcases the region’s rich cultural heritage and religious traditions.

Kudroli Dasara is one of the most prominent religious and cultural festivals in coastal Karnataka, attracting devotees from across the region every year.
