Mangaluru: Star-studded Lions Club ‘New Year Gala Celebrations’ enthrall the Revelry Crowd

Mangaluru: It was a perfect occasion to say goodbye to the year 2015, and welcome 2016 year with a bang, at the “New Year Gala Celebrations” hosted by Lions Club Mangalore (Kankanady-Padil) on December 31 at 7 pm at St Aloysius PU College Gonzaga Grounds here.The highlight of the celebrations was the grand premiere of Bollywood Director Sandeep Malani’s Kannada/Tulu short film ‘Sulige Sikkidaga’ -Actors Akash Hora and Vivek S Punjabi, along with other celebrities namely Arjun Kapikad, Umesh Mijar and Sonal Monteiro, Jnana Aithal (DID Lil’ Masters Fame) also grace the event.

A musical titled ‘Yashraj Heroines De Jayenge’ by Malani Talkies also had its screening during the New Year’s Eve bash. In order to appeal to the youth, children and families, a variety of entertainment was also included to make a fun filled evening. Sumptuous New Year Dinner Buffet with over 80 delicacies, including variety of seafood satisfied the hunger of the partying people. There were cocktails and mocktails, starters and chats, and the crowd simply socialized with each other to usher the coming of the New Year 2016.

Other attractions during the celebrations included the magic show, spot drawing and caricature, palm reading, henna, mehendi, tattoo, etc. Special Zones had been arranged for Children’s Games and to ‘Meet the Stars’, where one could take selfies with the film stars. Sizzling dance performances by “DID Lil’ Masters Fame” Jnana Aithal and group mesmerized the crowd and called for encores. Indeed it was one of the biggest entertainment-a star studded extravaganza with lots of entertainment, music and dance that one would never forget. The event was compered by Ln KN Narasimha Prabhu and Sharanya.

Speaking to mangalorean.com about “Sulige Sikkidaga”, a Kannada short feature film (partly in Tulu) with a duration of 45 minutes, Director Sandeep Malani said, “The film is a tribute to women empowerment that shows the lead actor as a perfect example to overcome all obstacles, difficulties and stand on her own feet. The shooting of the film was done in Bengaluru and in USA. Vivek Punjabi, Akash Hora and Clement Sequeira too are playing the lead roles”

Also speaking to mangalorean.com, Bollywood Actress Kalpana Pandit said, “This is the third project of Sandeep Malani and “House of Pandit” production. Earlier, the film on HIV Aids awareness titled ‘Jo Jo Laali’ won 14 awards and has been screened all over India and International Film Festivals. The second venture, ‘Janleva 555’ had a good run of 150 days in North India territories. I am happy that this film is going to be screened in Mangaluru and we hope to have good reviews from Mangaluru audience.” Lion Canute Fernandes (owner of Maestro Titans) and other Lions Club members were also present at the celebrations. The celebrations ended with a dazzling fireworks display.
