Mangaluru: Two Individuals Booked for Alleged Visa Fraud

Mangaluru: A case has been registered at the Kankanady Town Police Station against two individuals accused of swindling a resident of Kannur under the guise of providing overseas employment visas. The complainant, Muhammad Sinan, alleges that he was cheated out of Rs 19.20 lakh after being promised a visa that was never delivered.

According to the complaint, Muhammad Sinan, a resident of Kannur Dayambu, engaged in a conversation with Muhammad Azman of Beltangady, who was reportedly abroad at the time, in January 2025. Sinan expressed his interest in securing employment overseas, prompting Azman to allegedly offer to provide a visa in exchange for a payment of Rs 4.50 lakh.

Subsequently, on May 9, Azman, accompanied by an individual identified as Tauseef, reportedly traveled to Dayambu in Kannur. There, they met with the complainant, Muhammad Sinan, and his brother, Muhammad Azmeen. The complaint states that Azman received Rs 2 lakh in cash, Rs 1.90 lakh through two checks drawn on a Karnataka Bank account in the name of the complainant’s brother, Zhunrain, Rs 4 lakh from Muhammad Thasir, Rs 2 lakh from Muhammad Shabib, Rs 3.30 lakh from Muhammad Iqbal, Rs 3.50 lakh from Muhammad Arshad, and Rs 2.50 lakh from Salman Faris. The total amount received by the accused is alleged to be Rs 19.20 lakh.

Despite receiving the aforementioned sum, the complainant alleges that Muhammad Azman failed to provide the promised visa. When Muhammad Sinan contacted Azman to inquire about the status of the visa, Azman reportedly threatened him with a criminal case, accusing him of trespassing if he visited their residence. Furthermore, Azman allegedly threatened to accuse Sinan of assaulting the women in the house.

The Kankanady Town Police are currently investigating the matter.
