Master Guys Kulshekar Create 13 ft Ganesh Idol ‘Rudramsha’ with 20222 Rudrakshas

Mangaluru: The Master Guys Kulshekar created a unique 13 feet tall Lord Ganesh idol with 20,222 Rudrakshas at Kulshekar Kaikamba on September 4.

Speaking to mangalorean.com Amrith Kini said, “From the past 22 days we have been working to make this 13 feet tall Ganesh Idol with 20,222 Rudrakshas. From the past 20 years we have created Ganesh Idols with coconuts, Electrical flexible pipes etc. and this year we have made the Rudraksha Ganapa.”

Amrit Kini further said, “Ours is an 18 member team and and all of us contribute to create the Ganapa every year. We do not receive donations from anyone for this work. On the fifth year, we had made the Ganapa with coconuts and for the tenth year also we made the Ganapa in a different style with Coconuts. On the 15th year, we did the Ganapa using Electrical Flexible pipes. This year we thought of creating yet another unique 13 ft Ganapa with Rudrakshas. Accordingly, we began searching for the Rudrakshas and got the information that the Rudrakshas were available in Chandigarh and also in Udupi. We then contacted the people in Udupi to provide us with 200 malas of Rudrakshas each consisting of 108 Rudrakshas. The total cost of this project is Rs 1 Lakh and the 200 malas of Rudrakshas cost us Rs 28,000”.

Speaking to mangalorean.com member of the Master Guys Kulshekar Kaikamba, Venkatesh Prabhu said, “Every year we install and keep the Ganesh Idol for 2 days but this year we are keeping it for three days. We are holding Pujas every day untill the immersion of the Ganesh Idol of Hindu Seva Samiti Trust Kulshekar.”

When asked about the plans for the programme for the 25th year Amrith said, “Since we have a lot of time, so far we have not decided about it. As it will be our silver jubilee year we are thinking of making the Ganapa with old coins if we get enough of them, but the final decision is not yet made.”

When asked what will be done with the huge quantity of the Rudrakshas, Amrith said, “The Rudrakshas will be used for the “Goodudeepa” competition in Kudroli and other places. We are now displaying all our projects on the digital screen.”
