MIA Customs Seize Foreign Currency worth Rs 69.5 Lakh
Mangaluru: The Customs officers arrested a passenger and seized foreign currency totaling to Rs 69.5 Lakh, at the International Airport, here on March 18.
The arrested has been identified as Mohammed Asgar, a native of Kadambur, Kasargod.
According to the airport officials, the currency was seized at the time of Mohammed Asgar’s departure from Mangaluru International Airport on March 18 by Air India flight to Dubai at 8:30 am.
The said passenger attempted to smuggle foreign currency out of India without valid money exchange documents. Mohammed Asgar was carrying Dhirams, dollars, Pounds and Rubles all worth Rs 69.5 Lakh.
Mohammed was taken into the custody for further investigations.
