Minister Kota Srinivas and DC Sindhu Visit Fr Muller to Check on Availability of Beds to Treat COVID-19 Patients

Mangaluru: The District Minister In-charge Kota Srinivas Poojary along with Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Roopesh and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel visited Father Muller Charitable Institutions to check on the availability of Beds in the hospital on July 20.

Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, Fr Richard A Coelho briefed about the hospital’s process in taking care of the coronavirus infected patients in the hospital. “We have 1250 beds in the hospital in which 625 beds are reserved for the coronavirus infected patients.”

Speaking to the hospital authorities, Kota Srinivas Poojary said, “In Dakshina Kannada district coronavirus positive cases are rapidly increasing. In this regard, hospitals should co-operate with the district administration to treat the patients without discrimination. We should all join hands to control the spread of the coronavirus. Any patient should not be deprived of treatment. “

After visiting the hospital, Kota Srinivas Poojary said, “We are studying the coronavirus situation in the district, and it is necessary to visit all the eight hospitals in the district. Today I have visited Fr Muller Hospital along with deputy commissioner Sindhu, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and the health officials. During the visit, the hospital authorities have said that there are 1250 beds in the hospital of which 625 beds have been reserved for the district administration to treat the coronavirus infected patients.”

Kota Srinivas further said, “We are already using 200 beds. We have to take care of the other patients too, who are suffering from various diseases. We have also discussed on treating the coronavirus infected patients who have symptoms of the disease in the hospital. If there is any need for ventilators, the hospitals should provide a certain number of ventilators. The government has announced free treatment for APL and BPL cardholders in every medical college hospital through “Arogya Mitra”, and people should contact them for the treatment. We have already instructed the Arogya Mitra staff as well as the health officials to help the coronavirus infected patients to be treated without discrimination”.

Kota Srinivas Poojary also said, “From the past three to four days, there are rumours that a pregnant woman was sent from one hospital to another without providing treatment. I have instructed the health officials to investigate the case and give the report. If anyone faces problems, bring it to the notice of the district administration. People should not panic as the district administration is all set to treat the coronavirus infected patients “.
