Minister Pramod Madhwaraj Announces State Ekalavya and NSS Awards

Udupi: Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of State for Fisheries, Youth Services and Sports, announced the names of 13 sportspersons for the Ekalavya Award; two coaches for Lifetime Achievement Awards, 9 sportspersons for the Karnataka Kreeda Ratna Awards and 10 institutions for the Kreeda Poshak Award here on Monday, March 5 at Hotel Kidiyoor. These awards will be given by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at Gurunanak Bhavan in Bengaluru on March 7 at 5:00 pm, he said.

Those selected for the Ekalavya Award are Harisith S Bengaluru Urban (Athletics), Rajesh Prakash Uppar, Dharwad (Basket Ball), Poorvisha S Ram Bengaluru (Badminton), Renuka Dhandeen, Bagalkote (Cycling), Mayur D Bhanu Bengaluru (Shooting), Karthik A Bengaluru (Volleyball), Malavika Vishwanath, Bengaluru (Swimming), Keerthana T K Bengaluru (Rowing), Ayyappa M B, Bengaluru (Hockey), Sukesh Hegde, Karkala Udupi (Kabbaddi), Gururaj, Kundapur Udupi (Weight Lifting), Sandeep B Kate, Bagalokote (Kusthi), Revathi Nayak M, Davangere (Special women swimmer).

Coaches V R Beedu (Athletics) and M R Mohithe (Swimming) will receive the lifetime award. Those selected for the Karnataka Kreeda Ratna awards are Sayyad Phatheshavali H Bepari, Dharwad (Atya-Patya), Yashasvini K G, Hassan (Ball Badminton), Shekar Vali, Bagalkote (Gundu Ethuvudu), Yuavaraj Jain, Belthangadi (Kambala), Muneer Bhasha, Shivamogga (Kho-Kho), Suguna Sagar H Vadrale, Belagavi (Malla Kamba), Sabiya S, Bengaluru (Throwball), Athmashree H S, Chikkamagaluru (wrestling), Dhanush Babu, Bengaluru (Roller Scatting).

Ekalavya award carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and a memento while life-time awardees will receive Rs 1.5 lakh and a memento. Kreeda Ratna award carries Rs 1 lakh and a memento.

The State government started the Karnataka Kreeda Posaka awards in 2017 for promoting sports activities in the state. Those selected for the Karnataka Kreeda Posaka awards awards are Brahmavara Sports Club, Udupi, Kambala Rakshane and Nirvahane Samithi Miyar Udupi district, Alvas Education foundation Moodbidri, Jain University Bengaluru, JSW Ballary, Kyathanahalli Kreeda Okkuta Mandya, Sports development association Belagavi, Kanteerava Sports and Education Society Bagalkote, Krishna Theera Raitha Sangha Bagalkote, Adichunchanagiri Education trust Mandya.

Minister Pramod Madhwaraj also announced the State-level national service scheme awards for 2016-17 students, programme coordinators and universities. These awards will be given by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at Gurunanak Bhavan in Bengaluru on March 7 at 5:00 pm

Those selected for the Best NSS Universities are Agriculture science University Bengaluru, Horticulture science University Bagalkote and Agriculture science University Dharwad.

Those selected for the Best NSS Unit and women co-ordinator are Dr Poornima Jogi, Sri Krishna Degree College Bengaluru; Dr Mamatha, N R Milagres College Hampankatta Mangaluru; Shankunthala, Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College Ujire; Dr Manjula Patil, Home Science college Dharwad; K G Umadevei, Government women ITI college Kolar; Sunitha Rani, Nataraja Women Pre Univerisity college Mysooru; Mallika, Poorna Prajna Evening college Udupi.

Those selected for the Best NSS Unit and Men co-ordinators are Dr Sunil Kumar D, JSS Medical College Mysooru; Dr C Narayanaswami, College of Sericulture Chinthamani; Prathesh KV, H D Deve Gowda government First grade college Paduvala Hippe; M N Vanith Kumar, Kaveri Degree College Gonikoppal; Dr Mahesh Patil, Agricultural college Kalburgi; G Ravi Shanker, Govt ITI Mysooru.

Those selected for the Best NSS women volunteers are Rashmi K, Rural home science University Dharwad; Vidya C, Sri Krishna Degree College Bengaluru; Rachana Shetty, St Agnes College Mangaluru; Pranjali D P Gowda, Horticulture College Sirsi Uttarkannada; Saraswathi N, Maharaja College Mysooru; Koduri Nithyashree, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Belagavi.

Those selected for the Best NSS Men volunteers are Palayya, Commerce and Business studies section Kuvempu University Shivamogga; Naveen Kumar, Shashadripuram First grade college, Yalahanka; Basavaraj H Gokavi, Sri Shankara Arts and commerce college Navalgunda Dharwad; Sathish, College of Forestry Sirsi; Amith S Salian, Dr NSMM First grade college Nitte; Vishwas Gowda, Kittur Rani Chennamma Horticulture College Arabavi.
