Mumbai, June 13 (IANS) Vinod Kapri’s film “Miss Tanakpur Hazir Ho” got the clean chit from the Censor Board but a leading farmer’s union in Uttar Pradesh has “banned” the movie because it is upset over the manner in which khaps (Kangaroo courts) are portrayed. The director, however, is unperturbed.

In an exclusive telephonic interview regarding this controversy, Kapri told IANS: “Censor Board has the power to release movies, and not any other bodies or panchayat! Censor Board has seen my movie and approved it, with minor suggestions. And I believe they are smart and intelligent people. After watching my film even Khap will have no problem with the film. Merely watching a promo they can not take such decisions “

Kapri, who is making his directorial debut with “Miss Tanakpur Hazir ho”, does not seem to be affected by the negativity.

“I don’t believe in such controversies and negativity. I just want to concentrate on my film, which is very positive film and I am getting a lot of positive response. My movie will release on 26th June as planned” added the director.

The Satirical comedy based on true events, “Miss Tankapur Hazir ho”, has managed to impress celebrities and audience alike with trailer release. Starring Annu Kapoor, Hrishitaa Bhatt, Rahul Bagga, Sanjay Mishra, Om Puri and Ravi Kissen, the film is being distributed by Fox Star Studios.

The “ban” has been ordered by the Bhartiya Kissan Union.
