Moodbidri: Jadhav Sanjeevini breaks 5000 and 10000-meter Record

Moodbidri: The whole Swaraj ground was looking forward for the winners of the 75th All India Inter University Athletics Championship 2014-15 held in Association with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka and Alva’s Education Foundation. The athletes were very enthusiastic for the results.

19 year old girl Jadhav Sanjivini won the first place in the inter university athletics championship. She broke the record set by Navjoban Kaur, Punjabi Patila (17:00 sec), with a record time of 16.36 sec in the Women’s 5000 meters. She also broke the record in the Women’s 10000 meters set by Varade Pooja, MD University Rotak (36:04.4 sec), by setting a time of 34:58.27 sec. Alva’s Education Foundation, as a part of Athletics championship 2014-15 announced Rs 25000.00 for each record.

Jadhav Sanjivini hails from Vadolibai. Coach Vijendra Singh inspired her a lot in every step, says Sanjeevini. She has a great sports background. Currently, she is pursuing 1st year B.A. in Bosla Military School, Nasik. She spends 5 hours a day for practice. She has many great achievements like World School Olympiad in Brazil, Silver medal in 1500m, 3000m in Asian School, Gold medal in 4×400 relay and bronze in the Junior Asian Championship.
