MP: Two killed, one injured in Jabalpur road accident

Jabalpur:  Two people were killed, and another was seriously injured after a speeding truck ran over them on the Jabalpur-Katangi road in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.

The accident occurred near the Saiyad Baba shrine in the Patan police station area when the truck, travelling from Jabalpur towards Damoh, hit a motorcycle carrying two men and a pedestrian.

The deceased have been identified as Narendra Yadav and Manish Barman, while the injured person is Rahul Yadav. All three were residents of the Katangi area, according to the information available.

Narendra Yadav and Rahul Yadav were travelling on a motorcycle, while Manish Barman was walking along the road when the speeding truck, bearing registration number AP39UJ3324, hit them.

Narendra Yadav and Manish Barman died on the spot, while Rahul Yadav sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Following the accident, the truck driver allegedly attempted to flee the scene. Police chased the vehicle and intercepted it near Sangrampur village. The truck was seized, and the driver was arrested.

Patan police reached the accident site after receiving information about the incident. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination.

Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances leading to the accident.

The incident has once again raised concerns over road safety on the Jabalpur-Katangi route, particularly regarding speeding heavy vehicles and the risks they pose to motorists and pedestrians.
