Mudharangadi David D’Souza Murder Case: Accused Shot in the Leg by Police
Udupi: In connection with the murder of former Mudharangadi Gram Panchayat president, Congress leader and businessman David D’Souza, the police shot at the leg of a key accused, identified as Raju, in the Ottinene area near Byndoor on the Udupi district border.
The police received information that three accused allegedly involved in the David D’Souza murder case were present in the Ottinene area near Byndoor and immediately rushed to the spot.
The accused Raju was being taken into custody by a team led by Kaup PSI Tejaswi and Karkala Rural PSI Prasanna. However, near Byndoor, Raju allegedly attacked the police personnel and attempted to escape.
At this point, Kaup PSI Tejaswi fired a round from his service pistol at Raju’s leg and apprehended him. Raju, who sustained a gunshot injury, was shifted to Manipal Hospital for treatment.
PSI Tejaswi also sustained injuries during the incident and has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment. Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar visited the hospital and obtained information about the incident.
Meanwhile, police have intensified their search and investigation to locate the other accused, who allegedly fled the scene.
In the wake of the David D’Souza murder case, police are continuing to investigate the movements of the accused and are collecting further information related to the case.
