Mudrangi David D’Souza Murder Case: Absconding Accused Arrested in Uttarakhand
Udupi: Kundapur police have arrested another accused who had been absconding in connection with the murder of David D’Souza, owner of Prince Enterprises, at the St. Xavier Church Complex in Mudrangi, Kapu taluk.
The accused, identified as Suraj Kumar (31), a resident of Katnari in Sheikhpura district of Bihar, was arrested near Haldwani in Nainital district of Uttarakhand.
A special team of Kundapur police deployed to trace the accused located and detained Suraj Kumar. He was subsequently taken into custody and produced before the investigating officer. Police also seized the mobile phone allegedly used in connection with the crime from his possession.
At around 3.45 p.m. on August 7, David D’Souza was shot in the head by a pillion rider who arrived at the St. Xavier Church Complex in Mudrangi on a motorcycle. A case was registered at Shirva Police Station, and the investigation is underway.
The accused allegedly directly involved in the murder, Anmol Rastogi and Jiyahul Wajul Sheikh alias Deepak, had already been arrested and produced before the court.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Irshad, Chirag Poojary, Sadananda Devadiga and Kishore Ram Poojary were arrested for allegedly conspiring with the other accused and providing financial assistance to carry out the murder. They have also been produced before the court.
The first accused, Raju, was injured in an alleged attempt to murder a government employee within the limits of Byndoor Police Station. He is currently undergoing treatment as an inpatient at the District Government Hospital in Ajjarkad, Udupi. Police said he would be taken into custody and questioned further after his discharge from the hospital.
Suraj Kumar was produced before the court on August 20. The investigation is continuing.
