Mumbai: We all citizens of need to join in the Solidarity Rally at Azad Maidan on Monday, 09th Feb at 3.00 p.m. Don’t be Silent, Speak UP and Take a Stand.

In Delhi, the fifth incident of Church vandalism, destruction of Churches and deliberate desecration of religious places. Are these isolated incidents”? as remarked by Minister of Home and Spokespersons of the ruling party?. The protests and urging immediate intervention by the Government  by the Delhi Archbishop Most. Rev. Anil Couto and also by Cardinal Oswald Gracias, Archbishop of Mumbai  repeatedly have fallen on deaf years.

Neither the Government steps in with adequate measures to protect and safeguard the interests of the minorities and its religious places nor does it allow  us to peacefully protest. In Delhi, peaceful community members were attacked by the Police in an unwarranted brutal crackdown. We condemn this. While the Home Minister has assured the delegation that proper investigations and security will be stepped, but why did it take him and his Government  more than 6 weeks to do something about this. This is not enough.

We demand that the culprits responsible for such vandalism should be apprehended and punished  and the Police Officers responsible for such uncalled for behaviour on the peaceful protesters should also be taken to task. Ever since the new dispensation has taken charge at the Centre, attacks on Minorities have increased in all forms of harassment and intimidation by the fringe elements of the Sangh Parivar. The Government promised “Acche Din” for the common man but it looks like “Acche Din” for the fanatic elements of the Parivar.

When will the Hon’ble  the Prime Minister speak up and give a stern warning to such elements. Will that happen? And then why everyone gets upset when Obama chooses to speak out? But can we afford to remain silent? Time has come for all of us to come out and agitate.

All roads lead to Azad Maidan on Monday, 09th Feb at 3.00 p.m. We want to see you there.

In solidarity.
