Muscat: Tulu Poetry Book ‘Uretta Kannuda Siri’ by Prakash Payyar Released

Muscat: “Uretta Kannuda Siri” Tulu poetry book and Tulu Audio Album ‘Nana’ by Prakash Rao Payyar was released at the Emeral Hall, Hotel Crystal suites, here on January 9.

President of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha Sarvotham Shetty presided over the programme along with Prakash Rao Payyar, Media Critique and senior Journalist Manohar Tonse, Shankar Shetty Kalladi and Diwakar shetty.

Shashidhar Shetty Mallar welcomed the gathering. Shanker Shetty Kalladi compered the programme. Introducing Prakash Rao Payyar to the gathering, he said, ‘The poetry book has enriched the flavor of Tulunadu culture. He wonderfully elaborated on the ideal views of the poet and his concern towards the Tulu Nadu and its culture.

Shashidhar Shetty Mallar felicitated Prakash Rao Payyar with a traditional Shawl. Speaking on the occasion, Shashidhar Shetty Mallar briefly explained the literary work of Prakash Payyar and his awards. He reminisced his childhood and nostalgia that excites him during his vacations back in his native place. He appreciated the work of Prakash Payyar in trying to document the culture in detail for the benefit of the younger generation. He congratulated Prakash Payyar for his dedication towards the language, art and literature and wished him more success in the coming days.

The “Uretta Kannuda Siri” book was released by the dignitaries. Manohar Tonse recited a few selected poems – Uretta Kannuda Siri for the delight of the gathering. He analysed the poems to bring out the glory in the presentation of the culture, the uniqueness, the love and the depiction of historical characters in the book.

Sarvotham Shetty in his presidential address narrated events in his long association with Prakash Rao Payyar and congratulated him on yet another masterpiece, this time in the form of a Tulu poetry book. He recited a paragraph from Dr Sunita Shetty’s foreword of the book, which he said points out to the creativity within Prakash Rao Payyar and his determination to follow his plans meticulously. He congratulated Prakash Rao Payyar for his efforts and wished him success in his future endevors. “Payyar so far had shown his talent in stage plays, poems, directions and literature but now he has proven his skills in releasing an audio album that too beautifully penned by himself. All the songs of ‘Nana’ album will become intimate to ones heart as these are really melodious with blend of our rich heritage”.

Prakash Rao Payyar thanked all the audience for their support. “NANA” the CD’ pack was unveiled to the public by the dignitaries who later distributed the CD’s to all the Guests and dignitaries. “NANA” contains 10 beautiful folk songs composed by Prakash Rao Payyar, Music by Sashidhar Kote, sung by Padmabhushan SP Balasubramaniam, B R Chaya, K S Surekha, Manjula Gururaj and Rameshchandra.

Each one of the song being released by prominent dignitaries like Nagesh Shetty Kinnigoly, Koni prakash Naik, Suraj Rebello, Yuvraj Salian and Stanley Fernandes were invited to the stage to play the songs and release. All the audience listened to the songs one by one and appreciated with a big round of applause every time they were played.

Speaking after the release of audio album, Sashidhar shetty Mallar appreciated Payyar’s contribution to Tulu and Kannada language with his commitment in this part of the world. He also said that the highlight of all the songs penned by Payyar is the aroma of the natures original beauty, the village, showcasing the traditional beliefs which is beautifully reflected. Prakash Payyar has the talent of being a voice of the common man and his feelings. ‘Nana’ album has fresh new songs which promises a new experience in the world of melodies and also will ensure the real essence of the Tulu language and culture.
