Muslim Girls stage Protest Against ABVP on Burkha Issue

Shivamogga: Muslim students staged a protest against atrocities on Muslim girls in front of the DC office here on February 4.

Addressing the protesters Shabana said, “From the past two days ABVP members are opposing Muslim girls from entering the campus wearing the Burkha. The students who come wearing the Burkha have been harassed and physically assaulted. We the Muslim girls do not have protection in the college. We need safety while pursuing our education. Two days ago the Kuvempu University has clarified that there is no dress code for students, but the ABVP are creating problems for the Muslim girl students”, she said.

The protesters allege that youth from outside come to the campus and create problems and some of the lecturers support these goons. They shouted slogans against the ABVP members and demanded their arrest. Students also demanded safety and security for the Muslim girl students in the campus and to take action against those involved in creating violence.

Later a memorandum was submitted to the Deputy commissioner by the students.

As the western societies are finally waking up to ban this medieval dress code, the cowards in Indian media and politics are totally silent and hiding under desks. It takes moral courage to stand up to some of these atrocities and fight for a better, civilized society. Our pseudo-secular groups and media are an embarrassment and entirely responsible for pushing muslim women to this sad state where they are forced to justify their own abuse!! Unbelievable!! I don’t support any aggressive moves from ABVP. But, before anyone starts lecturing Hindus on tolerance, watch this latest report from Canada and how… Read more »

It is woman’s prerogative to wear whatever they like according to the prevailing culture and tradition. However, one must understand that covering face is like covering identity. For safety reasons, covering one’s identity should not be allowed considering what is going on in today’s world.

Sikhs wear Turbans, Catholic nuns were the Habit and many peoples around the world have their dress codes and in most democracies ALL these people have been accepted and they can wear their dress codes. While in the West and some countries around the world there has been a call to ban Burqa only. This begs the most logical question, why on the burkha? There are 2 reasons why the Burqa has come under the spot light. 1. Unlike other religions, Islam has a well defined law known as Sharia. In Sharia a woman MUST wear cover her hair, and… Read more »

Does the Constitution or Sharia take precedence? The same issue is provoking controversy in the US although the press does not articulate the cause of the disquiet. Srdja Trifkovic of Chronicles Magazine analyzes Trump’s executive order and explains the purpose of the the executive order. n order to protect Americans, the United States must ensure that those admitted to this country do not bear hostile attitudes toward it and its founding principles. The United States cannot, and should not, admit those who do not support the Constitution, or those who would place violent ideologies over American law. In addition, the… Read more »

People who don’t have no basic knowledge of Indian constitution are know preaching the ‘holy book’. The provisions relating to “Right of Freedom of Religion” of the Articles 25 & 28 of the Constitution of India make India a secular state. To make assurance doubly sure, the 42nd amendment of the constitution inserts the term “secular” in the preamble of the constitution. Hence on the question of religion, India’s position is: India has no state religion, State does not discriminate between religions, State cannot impose any tax to promote a religion or to maintain religious institution, Religious instructions cannot be… Read more »
