Muslims in Coastal Districts to celebrate Eid Ul Fitr on June 5

Udupi: As the crescent moon of Shawwal was not sighted anywhere, the first day of Eid Al Fitr in Coastal Karnataka will be celebrated on Wednesday, 5th June.

Confirming the non-sighting of the moon, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru-Hassan Qazi Shaikhuna P Ibrahim declared Tuesday, June 4 the end of Ramadan.

The festival marks the culmination of fasting and the holy month of Ramadan.

Ramzan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed as a fasting period by Muslims who abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset.
