Nanthoor Accident: Veteran Photographer Succumbs to Injuries

Mangaluru: Veteran photographer K Mohan Chander (64), who was seriously injured in a horrific road accident at Nanthoor Taraithota on National Highway 66 last Saturday night, passed away on Monday morning despite medical treatment.

According to reports, the accident occurred around 8:30 PM when Gopalakrishna (27), a resident of Dharmasthala’s Karyatadka, was riding his bike from Gurupura towards his rented house in Jappinamogaru at high speed and in a rash manner. While attempting to overtake, he collided with Mohan Chander’s scooter.

Following the impact, the bike went out of control and crashed into a tipper vehicle, resulting in Gopalakrishna’s death on the spot. Mohan Chander was thrown onto the road and sustained severe head injuries.

He was rushed to a private hospital in Kankanady by a tempo driver, Gangadhara Amblamogaru, with the help of locals. However, after battling for two days, he succumbed to his injuries.

The entire incident was reportedly captured on the dashboard camera of the goods tempo driven by Gangadhara.

A resident of Naguri, Mohan Chander ran Navya Studio in Padavinangady and was an active member of the South Canara Photographers’ Association. His elder daughter’s wedding was scheduled for May 10, bringing joy to the family, which has now turned into grief due to his untimely demise.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters. Condolences have been pouring in from the photographers’ community and various social organizations.
