Navyug Gives Yet another Deadline to Complete Pumpwell Flyover – MP Nalin

Mangaluru: The Pumpwell flyover which was supposed to be inaugurated on January 1, 2020, has got a new deadline for the completion of the work. There were a number of trolls on the Pumpwell flyover in social media. Now a new deadline to complete the flyover is set to the end of January 2020. The company that has taken the contract has given in writing saying that they will complete the work by the end of January 2020.

Addressing the mediapersons MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, “The representatives of Navyug company have assured to complete the work by the end of January 2020 and they have given in writing promising the same. From the past two years, I have helped the company to get a loan to complete the work but they failed to complete the work on time. I am very much disappointed.”

MP Nalin further said, “From the past two years this is the 6th deadline from Navyug company to complete the work. In October 2019, the company had given in writing that they will complete the flyover work by the end of December 2020. A responsible official of the company had even said to thrash him with footwear if the work would not be completed. And now again they are requesting to extend the date. I cannot tolerate this, I cannot continue as the in-charge for this work. Let the DC take charge of the Pumpwell flyover work and see that the work is completed within the promised time”.

MP Nalin also directed DC Sindhu Roopesh to monitor the day-to-day work of the flyover.

A letter signed by the Project officer of PWD and the director of Navyug COmpany was handed over to DC Sindhu Roopesh. A criminal case has been filed against the Director and staff of Navyug Company and the FIR copy was handed over the DCP Law and Order Arunangshu Giri to take further action.

From January 1st No toll at Talapady

At the same time, the people who use the Talapady route have decided not to pay the toll because of the delay in the completion of the Pumpwell flyover. MP Nalin said, “I can understand the feelings of the people who use the Pumpwell road. I am always with the people, people have said that they will travel on the Talapady road without paying the toll, I morally support them”.

Even the President of the Bus owners association Dilraj said that toll will not be paid from 1st January until the Pumpwell flyover construction work is completed.

MLA Vedvyas Kamath took the officials of Navyug company to task and said, “You have postponed the completion date six times. Even after helping you to get the loan and arranging diesel for your vehicles you have not completed the work on time. The MP is being blamed for your mistake which is not right. Let people travel without paying the toll at Talapady. I am with the people and I am ready to face any consequences for the sake of our people.”

At least now you should have learnt the lesson. Be realistic. Looking at the state of the bridge, anyone can see that the work cannot be completed in one month unless a substantial amount is spent. If DC has to monitor it on a daily basis, the company should give day-by-day plan including the resources they are going to engage, goals for each day. Then only monitoring makes sense. Did you ask the company to provide that?
