Neighbours in shock after police arrest woman posing as IFS officer

Noida: The residents of Pristine Avenue in Noida’s Gaur City 2 do not want to talk about Zoya Khan and her partner who lived in a 3 BHK apartment for nearly a year. And those who talk, do not want to be identified in fear of repercussions, despite the couple landing in police custody. The Noida Police arrested Khan, and her husband Harsh Pratap Singh, on charges of masquerading as an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer for eighteen months.

The couple had availed VIP facilities, along with a government gunner and escorts, who accompanied Khan. The arrest has sparked panic among the residents, who claim that the couple maintained a low profile. A number of questions have been raised by the couple’s neighbours, who now are concerned about their children’s safety. While some have always been suspicious of Khan, some, however, are still not in the know-how.

“Guard sahab, sab ki entry kiya karo. Aaj kal bahut fraud ho raha hai. There is no safety (Guard sahab, please ensure everybody signs their entry. A lot of fraud is happening these days),” another neighbour directs the security guard, asking him to maintain strict surveillance.

“There is a panic among residents in the building. Our kids are not safe. Nobody dares to touch the people with VIP logo on their cars. That is why it happened,” a neighbour, who lives on the fourth floor of the same tower, says.

“If she was a bureaucrat, why would she live in a rented apartment? Why not in a government accommodation?” one of Khan’s neighbours ask.

“What is the problem with that officer and her husband who reside on the 16th floor?! I think she was a fraud that is why the police caught them,” another resident cab be heard asking the security guard.

An on-duty security guard says she seemed like a ‘powerful woman’. “Zoya madam se log milne toh nahi aate the , par unke liye parcel bahut ata tha (Not many people would come to meet Zoya madam, but she would get many parcels),” he says.

Everyday, the duo left their house in the morning and returned in the evening, the guard tells India Today TV. Some, who are reluctant to talk, are not very informed about the couple’s background. “We do not know her background. Maybe she has some political connections,”a neighbour says.
