New Committee of Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association Takes Charge

Udupi: The charge was formally handed over to the newly elected committee of the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association for the term 2025–28.

During the general body meeting held on Tuesday at the Udupi Press Bhavan, Immediate Past President Rajesh Shetty Alevoor handed over the charge to the newly elected President Subrahmanya G. Kurya.

The accounts of the Association for the term 2021–25 were presented at the meeting by Immediate Past Treasurer Umesh Marpalli. A cash balance of ₹77,323, saved during this period, was handed over to the new Treasurer Harish Kundar.

Similarly, the accounts of the Silver Jubilee Committee for the term 2023–25 were presented by its Treasurer Umesh Marpalli. A total amount of ₹14,58,277 had been collected for the Silver Jubilee celebrations. After expenses, the remaining ₹9,98,601 was decided to be utilized for the Journalists’ Welfare Fund. Both sets of accounts, audited by auditors, were approved by the meeting.

Present on the occasion were General Secretary Nazir Polya, State Committee Member Astho Mohan, Silver Jubilee Committee Convener Mohammed Sharif Karkala, office bearers Balakrishna Uchila, Pramod Suvarna, Rahim Ujire, Rajesh Achladi, Uday Mundkur, Vijay Acharya, Prabhakar Acharya, Michael Rodrigues, Ganesh Sabarakatte, and others.
