NMPT Assists Philipino Ship Crew for Medical Emergency

Mangaluru: New Mangalore Port authorities received a “Distress Message / Medical Assistance Require” from Master of MT KRITI SFAKIA through their local agents on 23 July 2017 at 1045 hrs which was enroute to Iran and coming from Singapore.

According to the Master, there was a medical emergency for a Philipino crew member Julious Clivete, aged 45 years, who suffered from severe abdominal pain in lower right side suspecting appendicitis. Master also informed that ship would reach New Mangalore Port limit after 1500 hrs.

New Mangalore Port authorities promptly responded to the distress call and arranged Port Pilot for medical evacuation inside the basin. The patient was successfully evacuated using Port craft at 1712 hrs on 23 July 2017 and hospitalised at A.J. Hospital, Mangalore through their steamer agent Interocean Shipping Pvt Ltd, Mangalore for treatment.
