No Arrest yet in Suspicious Death of Shiroor Swamiji – SP Laxman Nimbargi

Udupi: There are rumours that Ramya Shetty who was fleeing wearing a Burqa was arrested along with other three women and the car driver which is far from the truth, clarified SP of Udupi Laxman Nimbargi on July 24.

Shiroor Swamiji Sri Laxmivara Theertha who had died due to poisoning has created suspicion of someone being involved in his death. The police have sealed some parts of the Moola Math for investigation. As the investigation is on various rumours are being spread making the investigation difficult for the police department.

There are rumours that Ramya Shetty who was close to the Shiroor Swamiji was arrested by the Venur police when she was trying to escape wearing a Burqa. It is said that on July 23, a car was waiting near a temple garage in Aladangadi after one of its tyre had gone flat. The Venur police who were on patrol found a woman wearing a Burqa with three other women in the car. While the police got suspicious and questioned the woman in Burqa noticed Ramya Shetty in the car and took all of them including the car driver into custody. It is also said that the Udupi police have relayed the information about Ramya Shetty and directed the Venur police to follow the Ertiga car she was travelling.

When mangalorean.com contacted SP Laxman Nimbargi, he said, “These kinds of stories will create confusion among the people and spoil the investigation process. We are investigating the case and if an arrest is made, we will brief the media. I request all the media friends not to spread false rumours.”
