  •  No Shelter-Don’t Worry! 184 Acres of Land Reserved for Shelterless in Mangaluru Taluk said Tahsildar Guruprasad, during the Taluk Panchayat General Meeting

Mangaluru: Addressing the audience during the Taluk Panchayat Meeting Mangaluru Tahsildar Guruprasad said, “About 184 acres of land has been earmarked for those without shelter in Mangaluru Taluk. The sites will be distributed to the needy beneficiaries very soon. Already two meetings pertaining to the allocation of sites had been convened and 4500 applications seeking sites have already been submitted. The process will be accelerated. The land that is not conducive for living will be taken back. There are mistakes in the list of people without a site in a few Gram Panchayats. The GPs have been directed to rectify the mistakes”.
Also speaking during the meeting, TP President Mohammed Monu said 862 acres og Gomala land was identified in 82 villages in Mangaluru Taluk. There is a need to take measures to conserve the Gomala land. Taluk Panchayat member Nagesh Shet alleged that Mescom had failed to provide electricity connections to a borewell that was sunk under Ganga Kalyana Scheme in Kuppepadavu Gram Panchayat limits. A Mescom official clarified that a permission was needed for electricity connection from the Deputy Commissioner in order to provide a power connection.

The members engaged in an exchange of words pertaining to fish markets in Gurupura and Kandavar Gram Panchayats. A few members alleged that the income generated by the Kandavara GP was inadequate. When the GP had decided to auction the shops in its jurisdiction, the President had succeeded in bringing a stay order from the Court against the auctioning.

Tahsildar Guruprasad also said that the pension adalat will be initiated in GP from November to sort out the issues pertaining to pension. The application of 1800 people seeking pension is pending for disposal. The pension is credited directly to the account of the beneficiaries. There are some issues in the payment for the past few days, added Tahsildar.
