E-Cycle being a symbol of environmental care and health concern was presented to Mangaluru by JR Lobo, MLA, Mangalore South Constituency. S M Arshad – Managing Director, City Centre Mall and other guests of honor who graced the occasion, during a launching ceremony held on Saturday, 10 December at HAMSmart showroom. Speaking during after the inauguration, MLA JR Lobo said, ” With the introduction of Electric Cycle, Mangaluru city can now reduce pollution, and educational and institutional campuses, industrial and business establishments, large residential lay outs etc. can promote E-Cycle for internal transportation. This E-Cycle will be ideal for older people who can’t pedal much, and also ideal for youngsters as exercise and health wise.
Engineer Baskar from Hulikkal Brand briefed about the features of the Electric Cycle, where he said that Electric Cycle has both the features of Automatic Driving and Pedaling. The cycle cost is Rs. 35,000/- and the running cost of about 20 paise per Kilometer. One can pedal it for fitness and drive it for a free drive. This is a fantastic vehicle for city drive, campus drive and for every short radius drives. Thirty Kilometers is the utility for a single time recharge of the battery. The E-Bike (it is also called in that way) is India’s first LITHIUM-ION Battery powered Electric Cycle. HULIKKAL is the Brand name of the E- Cycle. The company is situated in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The E-Cycle is approved by Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Pune under No Licence, No Registration Category.
