NRSS to go on Indefinite Hunger Strike from Feb 10 against Yettinahole

Mangaluru: The Netravati Rakshana Samyukta Samiti to go on indefinite hunger strike from February 10, if the Yettinahole river diversion project will not be dropped”, said the member of the NRSS Ganesh Rao in a press meet held at Hotel Woodlands here on February 6.

 

Addressing the mediapersons Ganesh Rao said, “The indefinite hunger strike against Yettinahole river diversion project will start at 9:45 am by garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Gandhi park in front of the Town hall on February 10. Later the protesters will march in a procession from the Gandhi Park to DC office. The political leaders from all the parties, religious heads from all faiths and the local leaders as well as the activists will take part in the protest.”

Ganesh further said, “The Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel along with Kemaru Sandipani Sadhanashram, Sri Sri Sri Esha Vittaladas Swamiji, Satyajith Suratkal, Harish Punja, Raghuveer Suterpete, Dinkar Shetty, M G Hegde, Shashiraj Kolambe, Narayana Bangera, Siraj Adkare, Haneef, Kiran Rai Bajal, Dr Bharat Shetty, Pusparaj Shetty Bantwal, Harikrishna Bantwal, Monappa Bhandary will be on indifinite hunger strike from February 10”.

Addressing the mediapersons M G Hegde said, “We the above-mentioned persons will be on an indifinite hunger strike from February 10, if the police will try to arrest us we will call for a Bundh in Mangaluru. If any untoward incident takes place, the district minister in-charge and the administration will be held responsible. We are holding a hunger strike on the principals of Mahatma Gandhiji following the path of nonviolence. Let the government withdraw the project or put it on hold until further talks are held with the experts and the concerned authorities. If the project will be put on hold we will withdraw our hunger strike.”

Satyajit Suratkal said that the religious heads from various Mosques, Churches, Temples and political leaders extended their support for the hunger strike. We will go on an indefinite hunger strike until the project will be put on hold. Because immediately they cannot withdraw the project but they can put it on hold. We request the people of Dakshina Kannada to support the hunger strike.

Advocate Dinakar Shetty, Shashiraj Kolambe, Raghuveer Suterpete and others were also present.
