Objections to hold Ganeshotsava in Kathyayini Mantap until Legal Issues solved

Udupi: “The Temple Committee of Mahishamardhini Temple Kadiyali have objected to organising the Ganeshotsava by the Ganeshotsava Committee in Kathyayini Mantap which is facing legal issues”, said K Srinivas Hebbar, President of Mahishamardhini Temple Committee.

The committee has also alleged that the politically motivated Ganeshotsava Committee is maligning the image of the temple and also utilising its resources for their benefit. Organising of Ganeshotsava in the premises of Mahishamardhini Temple will lead to further problems and confusion among the devotees.

The Ganeshotsava Committee has orally asked for permission to organise the Ganeshotsava in Kathyayini Mantap which is facing legal issues. The Temple Committee of Mahishamardhini Temple, Kadiyali has no right to give permission for Kathyayini Mantap as it is facing legal issues.

The Ganeshotsava Committee was advised to hold the Ganeshotsava in the Sharwani Mantap. The committee has refused to hold the Ganeshotsava in Sharwani Mantap and is preparing to hold the celebrations in Kathyayini Mantap despite legal issues.

Since the Kathyayini Mantap is facing legal issues, the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district had reserved the order to retain the Kathyayini Mantap with the temple. Without considering the order and the Temple norms a committee was formed to run Kathyayini Mantap temple norms to run Kathyayini Mantap.

An appeal has been made to the police department and the CMC, not to allow holding the Ganeshotsava in Kathyayini Mantap. The CMC Commissioner has directed the organisers to obtain an NOC from the Mahishamardhini temple committee, Kadiyali.

The Ganeshotsava Committee have forcibly performed the pre-rituals in the Kathyayini Mantap and have also utilised the temple premises for the Ganeshotsava. The District Superintendent of Police has been approached to make them vacate the premises utilised for Ganeshotsava as there is no document to prove that the Kathyayini Mantap belongs to any committee or persons other than the Mahishamardhini Temple, Kadiyali.

The Ganeshotsava Committee say that they have been celebrating Ganeshotsava from the past 50 years but their claims are said to be irrelevant. The Ganeshotsava Committee has been celebrating Ganeshotsava from past 25 years. The Ganeshotsava Committee has been levelling baseless allegations on the temple committee to cover their irregularities. The authorities should initiate legal action against the Ganeshotsava Committee for utilising the space by force.

Srinivas Hebbar also refuted the charges levelled against the committee for not allowing the public to enter the Temple by keeping the gates closed. He said that the gate is in place from the past 30 years. It had been placed to avoid trespass and also as a means of providing security.
