One Dead, Two Injured in Valachil Stabbing Incident
Mangaluru: A violent stabbing incident in Valachil, under the jurisdiction of the Mangaluru Rural Police Station, has resulted in the death of one individual and injuries to two others. The incident, which occurred at approximately 9:30 PM on May 22, 2025, is reportedly linked to a marital dispute.
The deceased has been identified as Suleman, a 50-year-old resident of Vamanjoor and son of Ahmed Bava. His two sons, Riyab and Siyab, sustained injuries in the altercation.
According to preliminary investigations, the incident originated from discord related to a marriage brokered by Suleman between Mustafa, the accused, and a relative, Shaheenaz, approximately eight months ago. Mustafa, aged 30, allegedly engaged in a heated phone call with Suleman preceding the incident, following Shaheenaz’s return to her parental home two months prior due to marital issues.
Reports indicate that Suleman, accompanied by Riyab and Siyab, subsequently visited Mustafa’s residence in Valachil to address the contentious phone call. While Riyab and Siyab remained by the roadside, Suleman engaged in a brief conversation with Mustafa.
Following this exchange, Mustafa allegedly emerged from his residence and attacked Suleman with a knife, inflicting a fatal stab wound to the right side of his neck. He is further accused of attacking Riyab and Siyab, stabbing Siyab in the left side of the chest and Riyab in the right forearm.
Locals provided immediate assistance, transporting the injured parties to Janapriya Hospital at approximately 11:00 PM. Suleman was pronounced dead upon arrival. Riyab and Siyab are currently receiving medical treatment for their injuries.
A case, Crime No. 41/2025, has been registered at the Mangaluru Rural Police Station under Sections 103(1), 109(1), 118(1), 351(2), 351(3), and 352 of The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, based on the complaint filed.
The accused, identified as Mustafa, has been apprehended by the authorities. A comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is currently underway.
