
Outsourced Civic Workers Stage Protest Demanding Regularisation of Services
Udupi: All outsourced workers of local administrative bodies in Karnataka staged a protest on February 1 at the DC office demanding the regularisation of their services in a phased manner on the lines of municipal workers.
District president Vinay Kumar Marpalli alleged that the government has done injustice to over 15,000 people who are working as outsourced workers in various local administrative bodies by depriving them of various facilities.
As part of the protest, outsourced workers, including drivers of garbage transporting vehicles, water supply helpers, loaders, cleaners and drainage workers stopped the water supply, suspended cleanliness works and participated in the protest, he said.
Udupi Block Congress president and opposition leader of Udupi CMC Ramesh Kanchan participated in the protest and extended support to the protesters.
Leaders Sandeep Poojary, Sudeep, Prabhakar, Victor Ravi, Niranjan, Prasad Koraga, Priyatham, Manjunath, Ravindra and others were present.
