Padubidri: A fatal traffic accident occurred on Friday morning near the Hejamady Bypass on National Highway 66, resulting in the death of an autorickshaw driver. The incident involved a collision between a lorry and the victim’s autorickshaw.

The deceased has been identified as Rafeeq, a 37-year-old resident of Hejamady Masthikatte. Authorities confirmed his identity following notification of next of kin.

Preliminary reports indicate that Mr. Rafeeq was en route to a local mosque in his autorickshaw during the early morning hours. A lorry, traveling on National Highway 66 from the direction of Mangaluru, reportedly collided with the autorickshaw near the Hejamady Bypass. The impact of the collision resulted in critical injuries to Mr. Rafeeq.

First responders and local residents swiftly arrived at the scene of the accident. Mr. Rafeeq was immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment. Despite the prompt medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Padubidri Police Station has registered a formal case regarding the incident. Law enforcement officials are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. The investigation aims to determine the factors that contributed to the accident and to ascertain any potential violations of traffic laws.
