Padubidri: Law enforcement officials have successfully concluded an investigation into a motorcycle theft reported within the jurisdiction of the Padubidri Police Station. The inquiry culminated in the apprehension of a suspect and the recovery of the stolen vehicle.

The incident occurred on April 18 at approximately 7:45 p.m. According to official reports, Vasudeva Shettigar, an inhabitant of Mulki Karnad, had parked a Yamaha FZ motorcycle, bearing registration number KA19EH6946, near the Sri Narayanaguru Temple in Padubidri. The vehicle, belonging to Mr. Shettigar’s brother, was left unattended while he visited a nearby canteen. Upon his return, Mr. Shettigar discovered the motorcycle was missing, prompting the filing of a formal theft complaint with the Padubidri Police Station.

The investigation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) S. Vijayaprasad of the Karkala Sub-Division and Circle Inspector Azmath Ali of Kaup Circle. A specialized team, spearheaded by Padubidri Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Sakthivelu E. and Anil Kumar T. Nayak, was assembled to pursue the case.

Through diligent investigative work, the police identified and detained Manjunath Fakirappa Valikar, a resident of Shyadaguppi village in Hangal taluk of Haveri district. The stolen Yamaha FZ motorcycle, estimated to be worth Rs 20,000, was recovered from Mr. Valikar’s possession.

The police operation involved the participation of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rajesh P., Head Constable (HC) Krishnaprasad, Constable Ashwin Kumar, and Police Constable (PC) Sandesh Bhandari.

Following his arrest, Mr. Valikar was presented before the presiding court to face charges related to the theft. Authorities have not released further details regarding the ongoing legal proceedings.
