‘Pay Your Pending Traffic Violations Fines-Karnataka Government Extends 50% Discount for 15 More Days, starting 4 March till 18 March 2023-‘ DCP (Crime & Traffic) Dinesh Kumar

Mangaluru: It is learnt that the Karnataka government on Friday, 3 March announced that the 50 per cent discount offer on pending traffic fines will be extended by another 15 days, starting from 4 March 4. As this move saw a phenomenal response from commuters in clearing their traffic dues, the Karnataka government decided to extend the offer. At a meeting chaired by Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) executive chairman Justice B Veerappa, Bengaluru traffic police commissioner MA Saleem, decided to extend the offer till 18 March 2023.

It should be noted that initially the 50 per cent discount offer was implemented on 2 February 2023, to be valid only till February 11. The KSLSA has however requested the state government to extend the discount offer for two more weeks after a record number of cases were settled in the Lok Adalat including traffic challan cases from across Karnataka. Many vehicle owners who had pending fines on them cleared by paying 50 per cent of the original amount. The idea was initially implemented in Hyderabad in 2022, and turned out to be a massive success.

Making good use of the 50% discount offer on payment of pending fines for traffic violations, Mangalureans had shelled out a few lakhs towards various offences, after the Karnataka government allowed a 50 % discount on traffic fines from 2 February till 11 February 2023. Speaking to Team Mangalorean, DCP Dinesh Kumar said, “Old Traffic Fines amount with 50% discount has been operationalized. I request all those who have not paid their pending traffic violation fines to utilize this opportunity and pay them off for safe and hassle-free travel. If all those who missed avail of the 50% discount on traffic dues offer that was implemented by the government initially between 2 February to 11 February 2023, now once again they can make use of the extended time of 15 days, and settle their pending fines, thus have a clean driving/riding record.

” Anyone can check for the cases pending against their vehicle on our website and make the payment. We will update the interface on the Mangaluru Traffic Police website. I once again appeal to all vehicle owners in the city to check if any cases are pending against their vehicles and make use of this extended 50% discount offer. Motorists should be careful while driving or riding not to break the traffic rules because the bunch of CCTV cameras will catch the violators and recognise the vehicle registration number and a notice is generated for the person in whose name the vehicle is registered and sent to the registered address. Follow traffic rules, and avoid paying hefty violation fines. Drive and ride carefully, and enjoy hassle-free travel. You can pay the fine @ #karnatakaone centres, #PayTM App or by making a \visit to the nearest #Traffic PS” added DCP Dinesh Kumar.
