After the Congress Came to power in Karnataka, Hindu activists have been murdered in Moodbidri, Madikeri, Shivamogga and now in Mysuru. The government has refused to withdraw cases booked against the farmers but it has voluntarily withdrawn cases against PFI activists. Raju’s Murder incident has been recorded in the CCTV but police have failed to arrest those involved in the incident.

Further Shobha said that the opposition BJP alleged in the Karnataka Assembly that the Siddaramaiah-led government was “destabilising” the Lokayukta by creating a separate Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). The state government was trying to protect the corrupt and possibly using the ACB as a tool for vendetta politics. The current Police wing of the Karnataka Lokayukta will exclusively assist the Lokayukta in carrying out the responsibilities under the Karnataka Lokayukta Act. Creation of ACB as an attempt to close cases against the Chief Minister, Ministers, their supporters and officials. The government is trying to run anti-corruption bodies as its puppets, she added.

She blamed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of weakening the Karnataka Lokayukta and demanded that the recent order setting up Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) should be withdrawn immediately. Siddaramaiah is trying to protect himself and his tainted ministerial colleagues by making the Lokayukta defunct.

Shobha Karandlaje welcomed the Union Budget presented by Union minister for Finance Arun Jaitly, it has focused on development of Agriculture and the rural areas. The Union budget is constructive. It is very good in terms of long-term planning and development. The thrust given on the farming sector and rural development is a welcome move. The Central government’s focus on agriculture and rural development is a good sign. Rural sector will also be benefited and farmers will get relief through the budget. The new crop insurance scheme, called Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna, is a boon for the farmers.

In view of the growing volatility in the agriculture sector caused by vagaries of nature as well as market fluctuations, it is heartening to see the new Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana which is designed to compensate farmers for their crop losses. The new scheme encourages investing more on inputs and crop protection solutions. In the Karnataka Budget, government has neglected the farmers, the government has borrowed highest amount of loan so far. Siddaramaiah has ignored development of agriculture sector in state, she added.

The State is facing the worst drought this year, with ponds, lakes and rivers drying up and the water table is depleting at an alarming level. Drinking water crisis is reported from several parts of the State. Government should immediately take measures so that the problem does not raise its ugly head, she urged.

Thingale Vikaramarjuna Hegde district BJP Chief, Uday Kumar Shetty State BJP member, Shyamala Kundar State BJP secretary, Githanjali Suvarna, Shilpa G Suvarna ZP members were present.
