Photo of Pregnant WPC Discharging Duty at Mulki Goes Viral, CP Dr Harsha Apologizes
Mangaluru: The photo of a pregnant Woman Police Constable discharging her duty near the Mulki bus stop during the visit of DCM to Udupi has gone viral. When the issue was brought to the knowledge of police commissioner Dr Harsha, he immediately apologized and said, “I feel pained .. not as a Commissioner of Police but as a concerned citizen.. we as an organization are sensitive to such issues and will take care. I apologize owning up my organization”.
CP Dr Harsha also questioned the Assistant Commissioner of Police Mangaluru North Sub-division Srinivas Gowda saying “This is unacceptable.. please ensure this never repeats.. why has she not been sent on maternity leave..? Ensure she is sent right away.. let Police Inspector Mulky submit an explanation in writing by tomorrow..”
Dr Harsha recalling the unique gesture from Mangaluru East Police station holding Baby Shower for a Woman Police Constable recently stated, “Would like to fondly recollect how we felt happy in celebrating the baby shower of a colleague in East.. this is what we stand for.. The above incident in Mulky is an aberration and we will hold the concerned accountable for the lapse and deal with firmly..”
Dr Harsha also posted some photographs of the Bundar Police station staff honouring a pregnant Woman Police Constable in the station and stated, “Another example of what we stand for..”.
We women really feel proud that the Police commissioner has a real concern about the women police constable, he is concerned about the safety of women and plans to launch the Pink group on WhatsApp for the redressal of complaints from women and girls.
