Pilgrim from Bengaluru Drowns in Subrahmanya
Subrahmanya: D R Subrahmanya (31), hailing from Nelamangala near Bengaluru, drowned at the Kumaradhara bathing ghat near here around Sunday noon.
A taxi driver by profession, he had arrived with Venkatesh and others from Dabaspet in Nelamangala on a pilgrimage visit.
While the rest of them had a wash in the river, Venkatesh went to have tea and then got into the river.
Without realizing the depth of water in a flooded condition, he was dragged away by the river currents. He was not traced until late in the evening. The Puttur fire brigade is engaged in the search.
A case has been registered at the Subrahmanya police station.
